The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Therapy and Medical Rehabilitation is the leading specialized institution of the Republic in the field of internal medicine.
Here, patients are treated based on methods of optimal pharmacotherapy of the main diseases of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, respiratory organs, rheumatology and optimization of their prevention.
The Center's clinic is a scientific and practical structural unit where scientific research is carried out, new high-tech methods of diagnosis and treatment are developed and implemented, and specialized medical care is provided.
Вся деятельность института в 1919 г. осуществлялась по лечебной линии, так как это было единственное учреждение в Средней Азии с хорошо оборудованным, по тому времени, стационаром.

В 1923 г. он получил название — Институт физических методов лечения им. Н. А. Семашко. При институте была открыта химико-бактериологическая лаборатория.
В 1927 г. институт открывает первое в Средней Азии радиотерапевтическое отделение.
